Bio Statement

Dr. Karachunski is an assistant professor of neurology at the University of Minnesota. He has extensive training in clinical neurology with special expertise in pediatric neurology. Dr. Karachunski specializes in “translating novel therapeutic approaches” for the treatment of different muscular dystrophies. He is the Clinical Director of the Paul and Sheila Wellstone Muscular Dystrophy Center at the University of Minnesota and a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Child Neurology Society.

Research Interests

Dr. Karachunksi's research interests include Duchene muscular dystrophy, children with myotonic dystrophy, myotonic dystrophies types 1 and 2, and pediatric fascioscapulohumerol muscular dystrophy.

Research Projects

Most recently Dr. Karachunski was the Principal Investigator of a study entitled “Bone health in Duchene muscular dystrophy”, which was funded by the Frank J. and Eleanor A. Maslowski Charitable Trust. He was also the Principal Investigator of a study involving the treatment of ambulant boys with Duchene muscular dystrophy.
