Bio Statement

Dr. Bushara is an associate professor of neurology at the University of Minnesota Medical School, as well as Director of the University of Minnesota Ataxia Center; he is also a staff neurologist at the Minneapolis Veterans Administration Medical Center. His practice focuses on movement disorders as well as his special interest in ataxia and diseases of the cerebellum. Dr. Bushara is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the Movement Disorders Society, and the Society for Neuroscience.

Research Interests

Dr. Bushara's research interests include tremor, cerebellar ataxia and functional neuroimaging of motor control, cognition, and cerebellar function.

Research Projects

Dr. Bushara was the principal investigator of a recent study of the olivo-cerebellar system's role in sensory processing and cognition that was funded by the Department of Veteran Affairs. He was previously the principal investigator of a study funded by the International Essential Tremor Foundation entitled “Neural Correlates of Essential Tremor”.
